Position Title: Senior Accountant

Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Assignment Type: Contract

Compensation: $42/hr – $47/hr

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support a mission-driven organization on a contract basis. This role will oversee core accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls across the organization. The Accounting Manager will partner closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to support financial processes, budgeting, and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee full-cycle accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense reimbursements
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Support financial statement preparation in accordance with applicable accounting standards
• Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and support budgeting and forecasting efforts
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies
• Assist with audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors as needed
• Monitor cash flow activities, including invoicing and collections
• Serve as a liaison between finance and operational teams to ensure alignment and effective communication

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience within a non-profit organization
• Experience managing or overseeing accounting operations
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
