Make an impact this upcoming school year by providing essential support to young learners as a Special Education Teacher. This contract opportunity allows you to work with elementary-aged students, fostering the development and success of K-5 children in a vibrant educational setting. The role begins in August 2026 and runs through June 2027, offering a full-time weekly schedule of 40 hours over five days.
Key Qualifications:
- Active K-12 VA Special Education License is required
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Previous experience working with K-5 students is highly valued
- Ability to adapt lesson plans based on individual student needs
- Commitment to cultivating an inclusive and positive learning environment
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student progress
- Assess and document student progress, modifying instruction as needed
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and assistive technologies
- Foster independence and self-advocacy among students
- Contribute to a team-focused atmosphere that supports both staff and students
