Swing Shift
The ED welcomes experienced nurses interested in moving into this new specialty. The 20-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in the Emergency Department.
Overview:
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education
Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure
Registered nursing License (Required)
Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
BLS required within 90 days of hire
ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire
Experience
Minimum of 1 year med/surg nursing

, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the preoperative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services.
