Senior Product Manager
Hive Group is an agile, mission-driven government contracting firm transforming how federal agencies approach procurement and acquisition. We are evolving from a services first model to become a product focused innovator, building scalable tools that improve government acquisition outcomes and modernize the procurement experience. As a small business with an entrepreneurial spirit, we value initiative, creativity, and leadership at every level.
- Define and lead product vision, strategy, and roadmaps that align client requirements with Hive Group’s corporate product goals.
- Work directly with government clients and users to deeply understand mission needs and procurement challenges.
- Translate client needs and market opportunities into actionable product requirements, epics, and user stories; manage and prioritize product backlogs.
- Partner with engineering and delivery teams to develop scalable, reusable solutions that can serve multiple clients and markets.
- Build and implement product management systems and processes — including backlog management, release planning, user feedback loops, and documentation — in an environment where formal development practices are still maturing.
- Foster product-oriented thinking and mentor cross-functional teams with varied levels of experience in product delivery.
- Manage risks, track dependencies, and drive on-time, high-quality product releases.
- Work with leadership to identify opportunities for productization, commercialization, and broader market impact.
- Contribute to proposals, product demonstrations, and business development efforts.
- Participate in occasional onsite client and team events in the National Capital Region (NCR).
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree a plus.
- 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years delivering digital products in a government contracting, procurement, or acquisition-related environment.
- Strong ability to balance client-specific objectives with broader corporate technical and scaling goals.
- Demonstrated success establishing product management practices and systems in growing, entrepreneurial organizations.
- Deep understanding of government contracting and procurement processes, including compliance considerations (FAR, DFARS, CMMC, Section 508, FedRAMP, etc.).
- Exceptional client engagement and stakeholder management skills — with direct experience working with federal agency customers.
- Proficient in agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills; ability to inspire and develop cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication — written and verbal — across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Public Trust clearance (or ability to obtain).
- Preferred:
- Experience developing SaaS products or scalable platforms in federal markets.
- Familiarity with secure DevSecOps, CI/CD, and modern development environments.
- Background in government procurement and acquisition solutions strongly preferred.
- Experience with modular architectures and reusable service components.
