Mechanical Project Engineer - Power Generation (12+ Month Contract)

Location: Clover, VA

Pay: $65–$95/hr (DOE)

Per Diem: Available per GSA CONUS rates (if qualified)

Mobilization/Demobilization: $500 each

About the Role

Join a leading power generation team as a Mechanical Project Engineer supporting complex projects within an active power plant environment. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in the field—coordinating design, overseeing construction activities, and ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant project execution.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving critical energy infrastructure while working closely with plant personnel, contractors, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects within a power plant environment
• Oversee design coordination, installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Provide onsite supervision and ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and permitting requirements
• Support construction oversight, contractor coordination, and field issue resolution
• Prepare and review RFPs, bids, and vendor submittals (as applicable)
• Ensure project milestones, quality standards, and performance targets are met

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 7+ years of experience working in power station or heavy industrial environments
• Proven experience managing mechanical projects from design through commissioning
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and construction supervision
• Ability to work onsite 40 hours/week with potential overtime based on project needs

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in hydro or power plant environments
• Experience serving as an owner’s representative or project oversight lead
• Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts related to power generation
• Experience with vendor/client communication, RFP processes, and bid evaluations
• Proficiency with engineering software and project management tools
