Key Job Details – Med/Surg Telemetry RN

• Location: Martinsville, VA 24112 – Close to Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Museum of Natural History, and Martinsville Speedway. Enjoy outdoor recreation, arts, and cultural events in southern Virginia.
• Healthcare Setting: Medical Surgical Unit (41 beds)
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Registered Nurse)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 (bi-weekly orientation on Tuesdays)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 8/21/2025 – End: 11/7/2025)
• Weekend/Call: Every other weekend/as needed; call requirements as needed
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech
• Float: May require travel within a 25-mile radius of facility
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800–$1840

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (required for Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical Telemetry nursing experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, Handle with Care, NIH Stroke Scale (must be completed prior to start)
• Strong clinical skills: critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Flexibility to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays
• Consent to random drug screening and completion of Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form
• Must reside at least 60 miles from facility to qualify as a travel nurse

RN Responsibilities – Medical Surgical Telemetry

• Provide high-quality nursing care to diverse patient populations in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including post-operative orthopedic procedures and total joint replacements
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care
• Document patient care and progress using Meditech EHR
• Float to other units or nearby facilities within a 25-mile radius as needed
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to hospital dress code (no specific scrub color required; no casual wear)
