We are looking for Appointment Clerks for a full-time civil contract position at Fairfax Health Center, a family clinic of Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (formerly Fort Belvoir Community Hospital).

Available shift:

• Monday to Friday - 11:00 am -8:00 pm (rotating Saturdays 6:00 am -2:00 pm with other employees as needed.)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position provides a variety of clerical duties in support of patient care and treatment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Have sufficient knowledge and skills to record and maintain accurate records. Prepare reports and be able to utilize computer data systems in these processes.
2. Answer inquiries and obtain information for the general public, customers, visitors and other interested parties.
3. Provide information regarding activities conducted at the establishment; location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization.
4. Performs a variety of receptionist and other clerical duties in support of patient care for the family practice, or like clinic, in FHCs. This will include but not be limited to open access scheduling and assist in creating a patient-centered health clinic.
5. Verifies patient information in CHCS. If the information is incorrect, update the information to include Other Health Insurance (OHI).
6. Ensures all treatment requested by the provider has been scheduled/ordered.
7. Receive calls from beneficiaries seeking Primary Care or Specialty Referral Appointments.
8. Assist with other duties as needed and assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Familiar with Microsoft Office applications Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Mail.
3. Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
