Job Description

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Communications ( VHS ), this position will serves as one of the primary University Communications (Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University) contacts with internal and external constituencies to ensure all unit efforts align with university strategy and priorities set by the division’s leadership. This position will collaborate with University Communications- VHS colleagues to develop reports to share with stakeholders. This position plans, coordinates and manages University Communications- VHS projects that span the entire unit. This individual is the University Communications- VHS project management administrator, serves as the main point of contact for our internal clients and collaborates closely with external partners including advertising partners and our agency of record.

• Basic knowledge of branding, marketing, advertising, and communication tactics.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and implement a variety of marketing and communications production calendars, schedules, etc.
• Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
• Exceptional critical thinking and people management skills.
• Demonstrated skill in working effectively in a team setting to achieve goals.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to manage software tools and automations to ensure efficient and effective productivity of the team.

• Basic experience managing projects.
• Basic experience balancing multiple, competing priorities (multi-tasking).
• Basic experience in managing a project management software system.
• Some experience implementing integrated marketing campaign strategies.
• Some experience gathering, analyzing, and implementing marketing data.
• Some experience with public relations, branding, marketing, and communications in a professional setting.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)

• Considerable experience with branding, marketing, and communications in a professional setting.
• Prior experience in higher education marketing.
• Considerable experience in serving as an administrator for a project management system, i.e. Asana, Monday, Trello.
