Robotics Control Center Systems Engineer

Time type: Full time
- Shift: Thursday – Saturday & every other Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
- Travel: Mandatory travel for training (10–16 weeks). After training, no travel.

Join Symbotic’s Customer Operations organization—the group that runs daily operations of our robotic material handling platform and partners closely with on-site customers to deliver elite safety, quality, and performance.
A day in this role
From the system control center, you’ll be the heartbeat of a high‑throughput, automated warehouse. Your day blends live monitoring, rapid diagnostics, and cross‑functional coordination to keep operations flowing:
- Continuously monitor the health of automated adapters, vertical lifts, and autonomous robotic vehicles.
- Own advanced troubleshooting for system and operational issues, driving quick containment and lasting fixes.
- Translate complex technical findings into clear updates for site teams and customer stakeholders.
- Log issues, create thorough reports, and partner with engineering to implement solutions.
- Coach operators on the full ecosystem: adapters, lifts, robotic vehicles, warehouse management systems, and related IT topics.
- Backfill key on‑site Symbotic roles as needed to maintain coverage and continuity.
- Collaborate closely with customers and internal/external partners to align priorities and resolve blockers.
- Lead and support escalations to address production‑impacting incidents.
- Advance continuous improvement (CI), standardization, and optimization initiatives for the warehouse automation solution.
- Uphold daily safety commitments in alignment with OSHA, Symbotic, and customer procedures.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or related field; or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 2+ years working with automated/industrial automation systems.
- Familiarity and willingness to learn: PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), robots (ABB), and software tools/languages (SQL, Linux, Python).
- Strong practical experience assembling, operating, and troubleshooting robotics and electromechanical systems.
- Composure under pressure with the ability to juggle shifting priorities.
- Curiosity to master new equipment and a collaborative mindset to support teammates.
- High sense of urgency and ownership.
Work environment & physical demands
- Valid driver’s license; ability to drive and/or fly to client and customer sites when required.
- Ability to maintain a personal credit card and submit expenses to Symbotic on a bi‑weekly cadence for reimbursement.
- Frequent walking and reaching with hands and arms.
- Comfort working at heights up to 45 feet and within tight spaces as narrow as 24 inches; ability to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and fall protection requirements.
- Where construction or site rules apply, use required PPE: hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, and fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
- Navigate steep stairs and frequently move up and down stairways within the automation structure.
- Work near elevated railings.
- Indoor environment with temperature variation; able to work between 105° and 32° Fahrenheit.
Compensation & benefits
The base range for this position in the posted location is $71,000.00 – $97,900.00; actual base pay depends on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.
