Job Summary/Purpose:
The Gemini 3 Group is seeking a Doctrine Writer to support a valued U.S. Army customer. The Doctrine Writer will provide product support for Aerial Delivery and Field Services.
Essential Responsibilities/Functions:
- Prepare accurate, relevant, and well-coordinated doctrinal products. Write text, create graphics, and provide input to multimedia development.
- Develop new or revision publications beginning with the program directive until the publication is published as official doctrine.
- Develop change packets to update publications outside of the revision cycles.
- Serve as the author and Subject Matter Expert for aerial delivery rigging and understanding of the components of aerial delivery doctrine; fundamental principles, tactics, techniques, procedures, terms and symbols.
- Coordinate with a writing team to ensure accuracy and continuity across publications and to develop doctrine publications in accordance with leadership guidance and TRADOC-mandated template, format, and writing style.
- Participate in various meetings that affect or have an impact on the outcome of his/her doctrinal publications.
- Conduct all required research and analysis to ensure doctrine publications are comprehensive, relevant, current, and fully synchronized across all centers of excellence/proponents.
- Maintain historical files, in accordance with Doctrine Division standard operation procedures, of the drafts of the publication, maintain completed comment matrixes, maintain an ongoing list of references; maintain copies of any copyrighted information and copyright releases .
- Must be a critical thinker and problem solver.
- Must be a subject matter expert capable of understanding the history, assessing the current state of knowledge, and seeking solutions for doctrinal issues.
- Must be able to work independently and write multiple doctrinal publications simultaneously.
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized, able to manage priorities to meet deadlines.
- Must be proficient in written and oral communication to articulate and explain recommended changes regarding assigned draft documents.
- Expert knowledge of grammar, syntax, punctuation, word usage, formatting, terminology, and appropriate style usage.
- Expert knowledge of the Army organizational structure, sustainment functions, Army command hierarchy, and the current Army operating concept specifically including aerial delivery equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in Photoshop.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (forms, signatures).
- Proficiency in SharePoint – document management and workflows.
- Proficiency in Outlook.
- Position requires minimum of 5 years of experience developing and writing military documents in support of military organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree
