Job Description

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining and improving site grounds. Assigned work such as mowing, trimming, leaf removal and duties related to inclement weather, such as snow removal, which may fluctuate by season.

Job Responsibilities

1. Plants, transplants, fertilizes, applies chemicals, waters, prunes, and weeds flower beds and plant areas
2. Maintains flowers, bushes, trees, and shrubs
3. Implements landscape plans
4. Picks up and disposes of litter
5. May assist in various maintenance activities as required
6. Operate a motor vehicle to transport materials and equipment, as appropriate to the position
7. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
8. Assist with snow removal activities
9. When needed irrigate, mow, rake, and trim lawns
10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
11. Duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping, and plants
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
• Ability to perform grounds maintenance tasks
• Knowledge of fertilizer and/or pesticide applications
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Valid Driver’s license with good driving record. Non-DOT
• Current certification in Pesticide Application. Preferred category 3a and 3b.
• 2-5 years of experience preferred
• Highschool diploma or GED; experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Completed degree(s) and/or certification(s) from an accredited institution or trade certification in horticulture, are not required but highly desired

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
