Construction Estimator - Williamsburg

Job Title: Construction Estimator

Major Role and Purpose :

• Provide construction cost estimates for complete site construction projects.

• Foster and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Locate, procure, and prioritize bidding opportunities.
• Visit construction sites to assess site conditions and project feasibility.
• Analyze project requirements to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Review and interpret project plans and specifications to develop and maintain accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
• Maintain and update a database of cost information for various construction materials, labor, and equipment.
• Evaluate subcontract bids.
• Bid preparation and costing.
• Contract negotiation and review.
• Participate in project meetings to offer insights and recommendations on cost related items.
• Facilitate work efficiency to maintain profit goals.
• Perform other tasks assigned or deemed necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in building construction or relevant field, or comparable combination of education and experience.

• Minimum 3 years of construction estimating or civil construction supervisory experience.
• Effective organizational, management and writing skills.
• Proficiency in construction estimating software – HCSS HeavyBid a plus.
• Knowledge in VDOT specifications preferred.
• Understanding construction industry practices, plans and specifications.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Job requires the following motions: driving, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, pulling/pushing, and lifting.
• May be required to drive.
