Construction Estimator - Williamsburg
Job Title: Construction Estimator
Location: WilliamsburgReports to: Chief Estimator
Major Role and Purpose :
- Provide construction cost estimates for complete site construction projects.
- Foster and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Locate, procure, and prioritize bidding opportunities.
- Visit construction sites to assess site conditions and project feasibility.
- Analyze project requirements to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Review and interpret project plans and specifications to develop and maintain accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
- Maintain and update a database of cost information for various construction materials, labor, and equipment.
- Evaluate subcontract bids.
- Bid preparation and costing.
- Contract negotiation and review.
- Participate in project meetings to offer insights and recommendations on cost related items.
- Facilitate work efficiency to maintain profit goals.
- Perform other tasks assigned or deemed necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in building construction or relevant field, or comparable combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of construction estimating or civil construction supervisory experience.
- Effective organizational, management and writing skills.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software – HCSS HeavyBid a plus.
- Knowledge in VDOT specifications preferred.
- Understanding construction industry practices, plans and specifications.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Job requires the following motions: driving, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, pulling/pushing, and lifting.
- May be required to drive.
