Job Summary and Qualifications

Provides skilled direct lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the health care facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings.

Promotes breastfeeding and assists with facilitating change within the clinical settings using evidence-based care management

Performs initial and on-going assessments of the patient’s lactation goals and issues.

The lactation consultant takes patient histories, performs breast and feeding evaluations, develops treatment plans and makes appropriate referrals as indicated.

What qualifications you will need:

• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (IBCLC) International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PRN position
