Responsibilities
If you're someone who believes that safe, supportive homes can change the trajectory of a child’s life, this role was built for you. As a Foster Parent Development Specialist at First Home Care, you'll play a vital role in recruiting, training, and supporting foster parents who provide care, stability, and hope to children and adolescents in need.
What You'll Do
As a Foster Parent Development Specialist, you'll build and maintain strong relationships with foster families while ensuring compliance with state licensing standards and organizational expectations. This role combines community outreach, training, case coordination, and administrative oversight to support the success of our foster care programs. Day to day, you can expect to:
- Recruit, train, and license foster homes in accordance with state regulations and organizational standards while guiding families through the licensing process from initial inquiry to approval
- Develop and implement community outreach and marketing efforts through presentations, networking, mail-outs, and relationship-building activities to promote foster care programs and engage prospective foster parents
- Facilitate orientation and ongoing foster parent training, maintain annual training schedules, and support foster homes through coaching, corrective action planning, and collaboration with program leadership
- Conduct licensing activities including home studies, treatment planning support, and submission of licensing packets and documentation to state agencies in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain foster parent records, charts, and compliance documentation while ensuring adherence to company policies, state regulations, and organizational expectations
What to Expect
This is a community-based role that requires strong relationship-building skills, organization, and flexibility. You'll spend time engaging with prospective and current foster parents, collaborating with internal teams, and supporting foster homes throughout the licensing and retention process.
Because this position works closely with children, families, and community stakeholders, responsiveness and professionalism are essential. Your work will directly contribute to building stable, supportive environments for children and adolescents in foster care.
Qualifications
We welcome candidates who are passionate about serving children and families and who thrive in a relationship-centered environment. Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field required
- Minimum of two years of related experience working with children and families in a therapeutic treatment environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship management skills
- Ability to manage documentation and compliance requirements with attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance in good standing
