Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Product Owner to join our team in Hawaii. In this role, you will support the development and delivery of software products by working closely with stakeholders, development teams, and end users. As a Junior Product Owner, you will assist in defining product vision, managing the product backlog, and ensuring that deliverables align with customer requirements and organizational objectives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow your product management skills while contributing to meaningful government projects. You will work under the guidance of senior product leaders while gaining hands-on experience in agile methodologies and stakeholder engagement.
Clearance Requirement
This position requires an active Confidential security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Candidates must be able to meet federal background investigation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in defining and communicating product vision and roadmap to development teams and stakeholders
- Support the creation, prioritization, and maintenance of the product backlog in collaboration with senior product owners
- Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Gather and document user requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria with guidance from senior team members
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, and designers to ensure successful product delivery
- Assist in conducting user acceptance testing and validating that delivered features meet defined requirements
- Support stakeholder communication by preparing status reports and presenting product updates
- Learn and apply SQL queries to analyze product data and generate insights for decision-making
- Maintain product documentation including feature specifications, release notes, and user guides
- Support quality assurance activities by coordinating with test engineers to ensure product quality standards are met
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product development processes
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of professional experience in product management, business analysis, software testing, or related technical roles
- Demonstrated proficiency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of SQL for data querying and analysis
- Experience or familiarity with test engineering principles and quality assurance practices
- Understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product development lifecycle
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional team environments
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements
- Experience working with government clients or in regulated environments is a plus
Certifications / Licensure:
- ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) Foundation Level certification required
- ISTQB Advanced Level certification (Test Analyst, Test Manager, or Technical Test Analyst) required
- Performance Testing certification or demonstrated experience in performance testing methodologies required
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar agile product management certification
- Experience with product management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Confluence
- Familiarity with user experience (UX) design principles and user-centered design methodologies
- Knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools
- Previous experience supporting federal government contracts or programs
- DoD 8570 compliance at IASAE Level II (CISSP, CISA, CASP+) or IAT Level III (CISSP, CSSLP, CCNP Security) is highly desirable
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work full-time at our DN1-HAWAII office location
- This is a full-time, annual salary position
- Overtime is not allowed for this position
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a federal background investigation to obtain and maintain a Confidential security clearance
- May require occasional travel to client sites or company locations as needed
