POSITION SUMMARY

The Spacer Lathe Operator operates and maintains a line to produce precision parts. The position applies technical skill and knowledge of procedures to set up, operate and monitor the Spacer Lathe cell to produce quality spacers. Producing and verifying spacers meet the customer's expectations while providing troubleshooting support to maintain equipment uptime.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions listed below satisfactorily with or without accommodation.

• Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and tend equipment to produce work pieces meeting quality and volume expectations.
• Setup & Adjustment: Read and interpret prints and standard operating procedures to ensure product meets operational efficiency and production schedule.
• Quality Control: Observe operations, measure dimensions of processed work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using gauges or other measuring devices, and make adjustments to meet quality standards.
• Material Handling: Load/unload workpieces and move materials as needed (may require mobile equipment).
• Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance, clean machines, and troubleshoot malfunctions, calling for repairs when necessary.
• Safety & Documentation: Adhere to all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and complete production logs and reports (hard copy or electronic).

Department Specific Functions

• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Remove and replace dull cutting inserts.
• Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and take appropriate action.
• Work with minimal supervision and consistently produce repeat parts accurately within specifications.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered a candidate must be able to meet the following qualifications:

• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
• Lift, push & pull 10 to 50 lbs.
• Wear department required, employer provided, personal protection equipment (PPE)
• Regularly stand and move throughout the department and shift
• Mechanical aptitude and prior industrial experience a plus
