Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday (some nights and weekends as needed)
Compensation: $28–$34 per hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Commercial Maintenance Technician to join our team in Reston, VA. This position is responsible for delivering effective, efficient, and timely maintenance services to multiple commercial properties within an assigned geographic territory.

The technician will be provided with a company vehicle and tools and will travel locally between customer sites. This role performs preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repair of buildings, equipment, and grounds. The ideal candidate is experienced across multiple trades and committed to high-quality workmanship and professional customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete preventative maintenance and repairs per work order requirements.

  • Perform maintenance in compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct face-to-face interactions with customers to ensure quality service and satisfaction.

  • Utilize trade skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.

Maintenance Duties Include:

  • Plumbing:
    Repair and unclog toilets and urinals; replace valve assemblies, faucet fixtures, and sensors for automatic flush systems.

  • Carpentry & Painting:
    Perform drywall repair, prep surfaces, and match paint to maintain a like-new facility appearance.

  • General Repairs:
    Maintain walls, floors, doors, and perform touch-up and beautification work as needed.

  • Electrical (as permitted by law without license):
    Repair/replace fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts, and sockets.

  • Complete service and asset inspections as required.

  • Provide estimates for larger onsite projects when needed.

  • Obtain necessary materials and supplies to complete assigned tasks.

Technology & Reporting

  • Use company-provided tablet/smartphone to:

    • Access and complete work orders.

    • Submit service reports and quality inspection photos.

    • Enter timesheets, expense reports, and purchase logs.

  • Maintain consistent communication with customers and internal teams.

Safety & Compliance

  • Complete required safety and compliance training.

  • Attend weekly safety meetings.

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.

  • Follow all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations and safety.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Degree or certification in Landscaping, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Specialty Floor Care, or related trade preferred.

  • 2–5 years of general maintenance experience, including minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.

  • Commercial building services experience highly preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing required.

  • Applicable certifications/licenses preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

  • Ability to use handheld devices and business software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook.

  • Ability to complete work orders in a timely manner and communicate status updates effectively.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to read and understand safety policies, operating manuals, and procedural instructions.

  • Ability to write routine reports and present information in individual and small group settings.

  • Daily local travel between properties required.
