Work Schedule These positions are hourly wage and do not guarantee a certain number of hours per week. The incumbent/s will be working on an as-needed basis; however, all Tutors will have assigned hours to be present for tutoring and will have expected hours of availability for walk-in traffic at the campus and for appointment-based tutoring in-person and online via video. Sensitive Position No The incumbent/s will be working on an as-needed basis; however, all Tutors will have assigned hours to be present for tutoring and will have expected hours of availability for walk-in traffic at the campus and for appointment-based tutoring in-person and online via video. Additionally, Tutors in some subject areas may be assigned to a Laurel Ridge course as an embedded Tutor, which requires the Tutor to attend class, in person or virtually, and to provide additional group study opportunities in person and virtually. Provide quality scheduled one-to-one, walk-in, small-group, or classroom tutoring services to students of Laurel Ridge Community College based on a comprehensive understanding of concepts and information in subject areas to be tutored. Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize students potential for academic progress. Maintain accurate records of individual and group tutoring sessions and all attendees. Give consistent feedback to students on achieved progress; exhibit positive regard for student. Uphold high levels of professionalism and student confidentiality at all times. Compensation Laurel Ridge Tutor Scale effective 11/17/23 : Student/Peer: $16.05/hour Bachelor's: $21.40/hour Master's: $26.75/hour Doctoral: $32.10/hour The position is part time and as such cannot exceed 29 hours per week and is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However, the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies. KSA's/Required Qualifications Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Able to be present for tutoring either in-person or online during expected hours of availability, including spontaneous tutoring for walk-in traffic at the campus Final grade of “A” or “B” in desired course(s) to tutor from an accredited college or university. Completion of a minimum of 12 college or university credits. Additional Considerations Experience in tutoring, may be peer tutoring in an educational setting or individual tutoring in a professional setting. Laurel Ridge faculty recommendation for each desired course to tutor preferred. Documented evidence of tutoring/instructional experience in an academic setting and transcripts demonstrating successful completion of each course preferred. Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel Travel as per any required duties of the position, such as to sites/campuses and any training. Ability to cover assignments throughout the college service region as necessary for the job is required.
