FedTec is seeking a Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) Subject Matter Expert to provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, accreditation, and sustainment of CDS capabilities supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) missions. The SME will ensure CDS architectures comply with DoD guidance, cybersecurity frameworks, and mission partner information-sharing requirements, enabling secure transfer of data across security domains Impact Level (IL) 6 and (IL) 5.



Location : Reston, VA(100% remote)

Job Type : Full-time

Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for all CDS-related design, deployment, and sustainment activities.
  • Lead the engineering and integration of government-approved CDS technologies (data diodes, guards, filters, secure gateways).
  • Develop architecture diagrams, engineering plans, and system security documentation to support RMF ATO packages.
  • Conduct requirements analysis and recommend CDS solutions that balance security, compliance, and mission needs.
  • Interface with DISA, NSA, and Authorizing Officials (AOs) to ensure compliance with DoDI 8540.01, NIST 800-53, and Raise-the-Bar (RTB) standards.
  • Manage CDS testing, validation, and certification activities, including lab-based functional validation.
  • Provide incident response support for CDS anomalies, outages, and security events.
  • Deliver training and mentoring to government and contractor teams on CDS capabilities and best practices.
  • Stay current on emerging cross-domain technologies, security risks, and DoD/IC compliance directives.

Qualifications :

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance (with polygraph preferred, depending on program).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, Engineering, or related field (master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of IT/cybersecurity experience, with at least 4 years in CDS engineering or operations.
  • Hands-on experience with commercial CDS products (e.g., Forcepoint High-Speed Guard, Radiant Mercury, Owl Cyber Defense / data diodes, Deep Secure).
  • An experience with CDS solutions within classified domain like PEGASUS spyware, US BICES is highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • DoD CDS Reference Architecture and DISA CDS Evaluation Process.
    • Risk Management Framework (RMF), STIGs, and IAVAs.
    • Multi-Level Security (MLS) and Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) concepts.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government), and DevSecOps pipelines in classified environments (desired).
