Accounting Manager

Kforce has a client that is seeking an Accounting Manager in Alexandria, VA. Position Overview: The Accounting Manager is a key member of the Accounting team, responsible for accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This role supports cross departmental initiatives, contributes to budgeting and forecasting, and plays a central part in external audits and ongoing financial operations. Core Responsibilities:

• Accounting Manager will manage daily accounting functions including cash management, general ledger activity, customer invoicing, and payment collection
• Prepare audit schedules, support the annual audit process, and ensure compliance with internal control standards
• Research and interpret financial data to respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure accounting policies and internal controls are followed across the organization and its affiliates
• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and preparation of recurring financial reports
• Maintain financial records, monitor vendor accounts, and ensure compliance with organizational policies
• As an Accounting Manager, you will review and monitor general ledger transactions and account activity
• Reconcile key balance sheet accounts (A/R, A/P, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, etc.)
• Prepare, review, and record journal entries with complete supporting documentation
• Conduct variance and trend analysis comparing budget, forecast, and prior year activity
• Review and approve cash receipts and invoice batches
• Follow up on overdue invoices and support collections activities
• Complete customer financial forms and manage ad hoc reporting requests
• Analyze account activity and provide insights to management as needed
• 3-6 years of experience
• Nonprofit experience - membership association preferred
• Strong Excel skills - advanced skills, VLOOKUPS
• Sage Intacct or a similar accounting software
