Compensation Range:

• $27.70 – $41.55 per hour
• $57,616 – $86,424 per year

Job Duties:

• Perform assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of respiratory care for patients of all ages
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to develop and execute individualized, age-specific care plans
• Administer respiratory treatments and therapies, including mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medication delivery
• Manage ventilator settings, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated
• Respond to emergency situations (e.g., Code Blue, Rapid Response) and provide advanced airway management
• Document patient care activities accurately in the EMR
• Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement projects, and staff education
• Serve as a clinical role model for peers, students, and interdisciplinary partners

Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC-accredited program (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Virginia State Board of Medicine license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
• BLS certification required (must be obtained within 3 months if not current)
• ACLS, PALS, or NRP certifications required within one year of hire (based on department)
• Demonstrated teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Experience in acute or critical care respiratory therapy preferred
• Active membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) preferred

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
• Experience with advanced ventilator modes and ECMO support
• Familiarity with hospital EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
• Prior experience in NICU, ICU, or Emergency Department settings
• Clinical instructor or preceptor experience
• Active participation in continuing education and evidence-based practice initiatives
