Senior Data Engineer
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Data Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our high-performing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex data challenges, designing robust integration workflows, and securing high-volume data migrations. Are you passionate about building scalable data pipelines and modernizing enterprise data ecosystems? Do you have experience working with Talend, Qlik Replicate, and cloud technologies like Azure or AWS? If so, this opportunity could be the next step in your career.
Primary Role: The Senior Data Engineer will lead efforts to architect, develop, and maintain large-scale data migration and integration pipelines. You will be responsible for building secure, efficient, and automated ETL/ELT processes that support the movement of both structured and unstructured data across on-premise and cloud environments. Your role will be central to supporting mission-critical data workflows and enabling digital transformation initiatives.
How You Drive Value: Your expertise in data migration, cloud platforms, and ETL development will optimize data architecture, reduce latency, and enhance data integrity. Your contributions will ensure the secure, accurate, and timely delivery of data across the organization and help shape our customer's next-generation data capabilities.
Travel Up to 10%
Candidates are required to reside within the National Capital Region.
You will:
- Collaborate with data architects, project managers, and business stakeholders to design and execute comprehensive data migration strategies for structured (e.g., relational databases) and unstructured (e.g., documents, media) data.
- Use Qlik Replicate to implement real-time data replication and Change Data Capture (CDC) processes from various source systems to modern cloud platforms.
- Design, implement, and optimize Talend ETL/ELT pipelines for transforming and integrating large datasets across multiple systems.
- Ensure seamless integration of data from diverse sources (on-premises databases, cloud environments, ADLS, etc.) into platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Microsoft Dataverse.
- Automate recurring data tasks including validation, transformation, and reconciliation to maintain accuracy and streamline workflows.
- Conduct data profiling, cleansing, mapping, and transformation to ensure data quality and consistency throughout migration and integration.
- Perform thorough testing—including unit, integration, and performance testing—to validate the completeness and accuracy of all migrated data.
- Troubleshoot issues, analyze root causes, and optimize performance during and after data migration.
- Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for data workflows, scripts, configurations, and process standards.
- Provide timely status updates to stakeholders, resolve data-related challenges, and ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Stay informed of emerging tools and best practices in data engineering, migration, and cloud technologies to continuously enhance system performance.
You Have:
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must possess and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on enterprise-scale data migration and integration projects.
- Proven hands-on experience with Talend for ETL/ELT development and Qlik Replicate for real-time replication and CDC.
- Strong background working with both structured data (e.g., SQL-based systems, data warehouses) and unstructured data (e.g., files, NoSQL, multimedia).
- Experience deploying solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS for data storage, migration, and processing.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, architecture, governance, and best practices for large-scale data solutions.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases and working knowledge of diverse integration tools and frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on optimizing system performance and data integrity.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
We Would Love it if You Had:
- Experience with modern data lake and warehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Synapse).
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools for managing cloud-based data services.
- A background working in regulated environments with a strong focus on data security, compliance, and auditing.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work on forward-leaning data transformation projects while optimizing the performance and security of mission-critical workflows. If you are ready to take the next step in your data engineering career and thrive in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment, we encourage you to apply.
