Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced OpenShift/Kubernetes Engineer to manage and mature the enterprise container platform. The ideal candidate brings expert knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster deployment and operations, strong Linux fundamentals, and hands-on automation skills. A key component of this role is evaluating emerging capabilities and recommending how to leverage them in a regulated financial-services environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Automate deployment, configuration, and maintenance of OpenShift clusters via custom CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code .
• Review new cluster configurations/pipelines to ensure intended outcomes without disruption; champion rigorous change control and testing.
• Identify, recommend, and implement platform upgrades/enhancements to maintain functionality, reliability, performance, and security.
• Lead infrastructure automation and continuous deployment in a private, virtualized environment.
• Document new services/infrastructure; maintain accurate runbooks and architecture docs aligned to best practices.
• Work closely with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams to implement solutions that meet current and future needs.
• Contribute to architecture & design , R&D for new/expanded systems, creation of technology standards/policies , requirements analysis, unit/integration testing , and UAT .
• Mentor and coach engineers, technicians, and integrators; review proposals/changes from less experienced staff.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of client applications, systems, development environments, and relevant vendor technologies.
• Stay current on Financial Services trends and platform technologies; coordinate vendor interactions and support tickets as needed.
• Follow and promote industry best practices, standards, and procedures.
• Adhere to the clients risk and regulatory standards; identify issues needing escalation.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the clients brand.

Education & Experience Required

• Combined minimum of 8 years higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management, and/or architecture.
• Strong understanding of the SDLC & infrastructure lifecycle , vendor best practices, IT Service Management , and systems design.

Education & Experience Preferred

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science , Computer Engineering , MIS, or related field.
• 8+ years in technical engineering across infrastructure design, data management/interchange, and complex application delivery.
• Ability to translate complex business/functional requirements into structured, high-quality implementations .
• Excellent written and verbal communication; advanced analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Verifiable expertise with container platforms : OpenShift/Kubernetes and Podman/Docker (build, configure, support).
• Linux (RHEL) administration and configuration at depth.
• Scripting in Python/Perl/Bash for sustainable automation.
• Automation/IaC: Ansible playbooks and/or Terraform (HCL) .
• Azure : advanced knowledge of AKS and Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) .
• GitOps at scale with Argo CD to configure and maintain Kubernetes clusters.
