Small Boat Operator and Marine Support Facility (MSF) Manager 26-039

Summary

Manages the Department of Ocean and Earth Sciences Marine Support Facility, including equipment inventories and space allocations, staging research operations, materials storage and disposal, and maintaining fire safety compliance.Oversee departmental vehicles (n = 2) and manage small boats (n = 3), including regular operations in local waters.Acts as 3rd crew member aboard departmental research vessel as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

Manages,maintains,andoperatessmallboatsforresearch,instructional,andoutreachpurposes in the Chesapeake Bay. Billing/invoicingofsmallboat operations.
Manages and maintains the marine support facility and its operations, including inventories, receipt of shipments and material storage and disposal as needed.
Participatesas3rdcrewmemberaboardtheR/VFaySloverwhenneededfor day trips.

MinimumQualifications:

Workingexperienceinmarinescienceoranothertechnicalfield. Small boat handling and trailering.
Must have U.S. Coast Guard six pack license (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV)).
Priorexperiencewithboatsup to60feet.
Organizedandabilitytoworkwithlittlesupervision.
Familiarity with MicrosoftSuitesoftwareapplications.

PreferredQualifications:

Prior experience with small boats maintenance a plus.
Speciallicenses,registration,orcertification.
Boater safety course a plus.

These ranges represent the expected hiring range for the position, not the full compensation band. Salary range: $50,000 to $65,000 per year.
