Manager of Business Development and Training

Job Summary
The Manager of Project Development & Training executes on the development, delivery and implementation of regulatory, industrial and custom-made training programs. This subject matter expert role will work directly with RailPros Training & Media Services to deliver a high-quality and industry/CFR 243 approved product, meeting and exceeding our customers' expectations. The Manager serves as the primary liaison with assigned external customers, federal, state, and local agencies, and other external stakeholders in these areas, and is responsible for managing the relationship with the forementioned assigned entities. Given this direct customer contact, the position is expected to identify new business opportunities through organic growth and customer acquisition. The position provides essential service and support to our Training and Media services teams, contributing to the overall reputation and assisting in the growth of the business unit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish, maintain, and manage professional relationships with external customers, as assigned.
- Represent RailPros at industry relevant conferences and expos, as requested.
- Identify new business opportunities with current and future customers.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in the development of new program content.
- Deliver and implement program content, as assigned.
- Maintain training records in accordance with program and regulatory guidelines.
- Attend meetings and/or events to support the Training and Media Services team.
- Serve as a backup instructor for instructor led courses, as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Able to apply logical thought processes and organize resources in order to solve issues and meet commitments.
- Proven experience in making decisions and seizing opportunities in the context of business objectives.
- Able to satisfy internal and external customer expectations and developing customer partnerships.
- Proven experience managing and overseeing the entire scope of assigned projects.
- Proficiency with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word).
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a highly effective instructor for adult learners.
- 7 years of direct railroad experience within the Transportation (TY&E), Engineering (ENG) and/or Mechanical (MEC) departments, industrial plant operation, and/or the equivalent experience within the FRA or similar industry governing body, with a significate portion of the time in the role focused on safety, rules, and training.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree within the business, training, or safety fields.
- Certification and/or equivalent credentials in training or safety fields.
- Ability to develop teaching resources, such as presentations, workbooks, tests, checklists, and other items to develop and enhance associate safety and rules competence.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with federal, state, and local agencies, regulators, field and office staff, railroad officials, potential clients, and existing clients.
- Proven ability to exercise discretion in the handling of sensitive and/or confidential materials and information.
- Previous experience with Six Sigma and Lean management.
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Knowledgeable in FRA railroad rules and regulations.
- Knowledgeable in Transportation, Engineering and/or Mechanical based regulations and the practical application in the field.
- Knowledgeable in GCOR and/or US Operating Rules and experience working under Class 1 Railroad rules.
- Knowledgeable in both OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations.
