Orthopedic RN Job Details

• Job Title: Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) – Locum Tenens
• Location: North Chesterfield, VA 23235 (Greater Richmond Area)
• Employment Type: Locum tenens / Travel nursing contract
• Unit: Orthopedic/Med Surg (5Atrium Ortho Joint Spine)
• Facility: Modern hospital unit, just over 1 year old
• Number of Beds: 25
• Patient Ratios: 5-6+:1
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts per week, every other weekend required
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/1/2025 – End: 12/1/2025)
• Documentation System: Meditech

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience with post-operative or orthopedic patients (orthopedic nursing experience preferred)
• Experience with Meditech EHR preferred
• Ability to float to similar Med Surg units as needed
• Strong commitment to patient-centered care and positive team collaboration
• Professional appearance: Navy scrubs and closed-toed shoes

Orthopedic Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from hip, knee, spine, and other orthopedic surgeries
• Conduct bedside shift reports and perform safety rounding (hourly during the day, every two hours at night)
• Utilize AIDET communication techniques for all patient and family interactions
• Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and compassion in all patient care activities
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including nurses, patient care techs, and secretaries
• Accurately document patient care using Meditech
• Float to similar Med Surg units as required
