Travel RN Job Details

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Location: Fredericksburg, VA 22401 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center
• Unit: SICU (38 beds, mixed MICU/SICU/CVICU)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 - 07:00), 3 shifts/week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Start Date: September 9, 2025
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: May float to stepdown or affiliate hospitals
• First-time travel nurses accepted
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1820 - $1870

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Minimum 2 years of recent SICU, ICU, or critical care nursing experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (TNCC and CSC preferred)
• Experience in a Level II Trauma Center required
• Community hospital experience required
• Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation, arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Completion of up to 8 hours of onboarding modules prior to start
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

SICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to surgical, trauma, cardiovascular, and neurosurgical patients
• Manage acute ventilator needs, severe sepsis, DKA, GI bleeds, open heart and TAVR recovery, multi-system organ failure, and CRRT
• Perform and assist with arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal, central line care, and procedural sedation
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage ventilators, and monitor patients using advanced equipment (Swan catheters, Impella, CRRT machines)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Float to stepdown units as needed, maintaining safe patient ratios
• Document patient care using Epic EMR system
