Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will manage key financial processes, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, and tax preparation, while ensuring compliance with industry standards. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with clients and contribute to a variety of accounting functions, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term financial goals. Responsibilities: - Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. - Manage daily bookkeeping tasks and maintain general ledger accounts for clients. - Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet items. - Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently. - Generate payroll reports and assist with payroll processing as needed. - Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns accurately and on time. - Provide support for audits by gathering documentation and preparing necessary schedules. - Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities to finalize financial records. - Communicate with clients to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and assess financial needs. - Safeguard sensitive financial information and ensure confidentiality in all accounting processes. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - 1-3 years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or a firm environment. - Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms. - Expertise in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in financial tasks. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Progress toward certification, such as CPA, is preferred.
