Step onto the airfield before sunrise and keep winter operations moving. As a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic supporting Inland Deicing Services (IDS) at Washington-Dulles International Airport, you’ll maintain and repair the specialized fleet that makes safe winter flying possible. We are a Winter Operations company—built for cold weather and fast turnarounds.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $33.00 per hour
• Employment Type: Full-time
• Winter Operations schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00am–1:00pm (as required based on operational needs)
• Shoulder Season schedule: Flexible (either 5 eight-hour days or 4 ten-hour days)
• Seasonal timeframe reference: Oct.–Apr.

What You’ll Work On

You’ll keep our critical airport equipment mission-ready, including:

• Deicer trucks
• GRV (Glycol Recovery Vehicle) trucks
• Support vehicles
• Ground service equipment and more

Your Core Impact

• Own local maintenance scheduling and performance to drive maximum equipment dependability.
• Execute skilled maintenance tasks using recognized procedures and best practices.
• Interpret and use maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and hydraulic issues within established timelines.
• Document all work accurately and perform both scheduled and unscheduled inspections.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; age 18+.
• Clear spoken communication and hearing; ability to read, write, understand, and provide direction in English.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills.
• Your own basic tool set (sockets/wrenches up to 1" and up to 1/2" drive).
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of fluid types, diesel-powered machines, and tools—including design, use, maintenance, and repair.
• Discretion with confidential information; professionalism with employees and client representatives.
• Experience with standard/specialty tools and diagnostic equipment (photo tachometer, scanners, meters, diagnostic hardware).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel to other IDS airport stations when needed (TDY).

Work Environment

This is hands-on, physically demanding work around heavy moving equipment. Expect prolonged standing; exposure to noise, varying temperatures, humidity, and safe but potentially unpleasant odors.

Physical Demands

• Use of hands for handling tools/controls; reaching with hands/arms; efficient speaking and hearing.
• Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
