Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (potential extension through 01/03/2026)
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 07:00-19:00, Night: 19:00-07:00), 36 hours/week
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1800 - $1840
• Unit: Labor and Delivery (Private Labor Rooms, Triage Beds, OB Operating Rooms)
• Patient Population: Neonates and Adults; average annual deliveries: 2,000
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Required (6-7 weekend shifts per contract)
• Float: Required to Mother/Baby and NICU (feeder/growers) as needed

Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
• Active RN license (Virginia or compact state; VA license accepted as pending, must be in-hand before start date)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to cross-train to Mother/Baby unit
• BSN preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Professional references required

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-acuity labor & delivery unit
• Circulate for Cesarean sections and assist with OB PACU, triage, and special procedures (cerclage, tubal ligation, fetal transfusion)
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns, administer magnesium sulfate therapy, and manage high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients
• Perform newborn assessments and support baby-friendly protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Float to Mother/Baby and NICU units as needed, within scope of practice
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC
• Adhere to hospital policies, including infection control and isolation precautions
