Crane Operator

Join our team as a Crane Operator where you will start by undergoing comprehensive training to learn inventory locations, color codes for steel, and warehouse placement. You will shadow a trainer and gain hands-on experience in crane operations, based on your previous experience. This role requires the ability to walk 8-10 hour shifts, both indoors and outdoors, and perform various functions including housekeeping.

• Learn and remember inventory locations and color codes for steel.
• Operate cranes both indoors and outdoors, adhering to safety protocols.
• Load and unload flatbed trailers and railcars, including rigging and climbing onto flatbeds.
• Receive inventory and move materials using an overhead crane.
• Fill out shipping reports and bills of lading, documenting all outgoing loads.
• Maintain a safe working environment around flatbed trucks and railcar systems.
• Potentially train to operate a saw, brake, or forklift as a promotional opportunity.

• Minimum of 1-2 years experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately, verified through testing or references.
• Capacity to learn and retain color-based inventory systems.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate equipment safely.
• Experience in working around heavy equipment in construction or similar industries.

• Experience with overhead crane operations in a heavy industry or military setting is preferred.
• Flexibility to train on day shifts for up to two weeks before transitioning to off shifts.
• Comfort working in a construction-like environment with hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, VA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
