ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Charlottesville, VA (22908) – Virginia healthcare jobs
• Unit: Neuro ICU – 12-bed critical care unit
• Employment Type: Locum tenens, Travel Registered Nurse contract
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1770 - $1820

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state; VA license accepted, pending at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience (Neuro ICU or critical care preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Certification (can submit with pending)
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• BSN preferred
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Professional references required

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients with critical neurological and neurosurgical conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular diseases, and CNS infections
• Manage ventilated patients and acute stroke cases in a Neuro ICU setting
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Implement infection prevention and patient safety protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Adhere to facility float policy and participate in unit-based assignments as needed
• Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR
• Participate in orientation and complete all required training modules
