Biomedical Equipment Technician III

Summary: The Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET 3). Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:- Ensure that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with Federal, State, and/or applicable regulatory requirements; implement quality control standards and maintain budget and vendor relationships.
- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect complex medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems.
- Assign routine repairs, inspections, and installations to subordinates and observe their performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems, and monitor completion of preventive maintenance activities performed by outside vendors (when applicable).
- Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
- Perform complex technical inspections of new, used or reconditioned military medical equipment.
- Recommend new equipment and testing procedures.
- In addition to BMET level I and level II duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Basic knowledge of biomedical equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems related to medical devices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical manuals and safety guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Effective communication skills to provide technical support and document service activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is desired but may not be required if the minimum field experience requirement is met. Must have graduated from the DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course or an accredited civilian Biomedical Maintenance Course.
- Must have graduated from the Planmeca digital dental course no later than 12 months of contract award.
- Minimum 10 years of field experience (minimum of four years as a level II BMET) in managing: initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, life cycle management, repair of medical equipment, equipment acquisition, and safety within OEM guidance and local/state/federal regulations.
- Must have a Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a related field.
