Senior Structural Estimator – Marine & Industrial Projects | Chesapeake, VA

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Structural Estimator to join their team in Chesapeake, VA

Job Description:

The Senior Structural Estimator will develop accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel and ship repair projects. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to be a key contributor to high-profile bids and project wins.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural fabrication, ship repair, and industrial projects
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
• Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, and subcontractors to gather necessary data
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope reviews
• Review and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes for completeness and competitiveness
• Present bid proposals to leadership and clients
• Maintain a database of historical costs to refine future estimates
• Mentor junior estimators and contribute to department improvements

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in marine, industrial, or heavy construction environments
• Deep knowledge of structural steel repair and fabrication techniques
• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to read and interpret ship repair drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Experience with NAVSEA, U.S. Navy, or government contract standards is a plus
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in shipyards or marine construction
• Familiarity with government or military contracts
• Knowledge of coatings, insulation, or preservation services is a plus
