Recreation Coordinator, Pre-Teen/Teen ProgrammingStarting Salary: $45,000
Join our dynamic team as a Recreation Coordinator, where you’ll play a vital role in enriching the lives of pre-teens and teens through innovative recreational programs. If you are passionate about youth engagement and have a knack for creating impactful activities, we invite you to apply! Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Management:
- Design and implement age-appropriate programs for pre-teens and teens, including camps, after-school activities, sports, and e-sports.
- Develop and manage seasonal calendars and activity guides.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust based on feedback and trends.
- School System Collaboration:
- Coordinate with school personnel to identify youth needs.
- Promote programs through school visits and presentations.
- Organize joint school-community initiatives.
- Participant Engagement and Safety:
- Foster positive relationships with youth participants.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Manage behavior expectations and effectively resolve conflicts.
- Administration and Communication:
- Recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare promotional materials.
- Manage program outreach efforts on social media and community platforms.
- Partnership and Resource Development:
- Collaborate with community organizations and local businesses.
- Seek sponsorships and grants to enhance program offerings.
- Associate’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Youth Development, Education, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in recreation programming and youth engagement.
- Municipal recreation experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of recreation department procedures and policies.
- Ability to organize work around broad goals and processes.
- Skilled in overseeing complex program development and staff management.
- Experience with recreational management software and budget tracking.
