Certified Rigger
Location: Site varies depending on the project
Pay Range: $28–$40/hour (based on certifications and experience)
Duration: 3 Months to Long-Term Opportunity
Project Type: Structural Steel / Industrial Construction
Work Environment: Primarily Outdoor Construction Sites
We are seeking experienced Certified Riggers to support structural steel and heavy lifting operations on commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the DMV area. The ideal candidate will have experience working alongside crane operators, steel erection crews, and field personnel to safely execute rigging and lifting activities.
This position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform rigging, signaling, and load-handling operations for structural steel, equipment, and construction materials.
- Assist with crane picks, critical lifts, and heavy equipment placement.
- Inspect slings, chains, shackles, hooks, spreader bars, and other rigging equipment before use.
- Communicate effectively with crane operators using standard hand signals and radio communication.
- Assist with steel erection, decking installation, handrails, stairs, and material placement activities.
- Verify load weights, rigging configurations, and safe lifting practices.
- Maintain awareness of load paths, exclusion zones, and site hazards during lifting operations.
- Follow OSHA regulations, lift plans, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Support general structural steel and industrial construction activities as needed.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning.
Requirements:
- NCCCO Certified Rigger preferred.
- Signal Person Certification preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
- Experience working on structural steel, industrial, manufacturing, power, or commercial construction projects.
- Knowledge of rigging hardware, sling capacities, load calculations, and lifting procedures.
- Ability to work safely at heights and in varying outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver construction materials and equipment.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Work Environment:
- Structural steel and industrial construction sites.
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent climbing, walking, standing, and working at elevated heights.
- Exposure to cranes, heavy equipment, and active construction operations.
