Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work day shifts in a 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit utilizing critical care principles at intermediate level
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Patient ratio of 1:3 for days, nights, and weekends
• Care for patients transferring from Neuro ICU including neuro trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intraventricular or intracerebral hemorrhage patients
• Manage ENT cancer patients post-tumor resection and flap reconstruction, post-operative spine patients, and various neurological conditions
• 24 hours of orientation provided with up to 16 hours of non-billable modules
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off per contract
• Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting system experience required
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• BSN preferred
• Must have Virginia license in hand by Wednesday before start date (pending licenses accepted for submission)
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• References required for submission
• Nursys verification required for submittal

This academic medical center operates a specialized 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit that provides intermediate-level critical care using advanced neuroscience principles. The facility maintains a daily census of approximately 10 patients and offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and various other specialized services. The unit specializes in complex neurological conditions and post-surgical care with modern equipment and evidence-based protocols.
