PCU RN Job Details

• Location: Roanoke, VA (24014) – Virginia healthcare jobs
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Unit: General Medicine Progressive Care Unit (8 West)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 36 hours/week
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910-$1960
• Patient Ratio: 6:1
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Floating: May float to other PCU or Med-Surg units
• Weekend Coverage: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule required

PCU RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
• At least 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or acute care RN experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficient in Epic EMR
• Clinical skills: dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, cardiac drips (no titration), non-invasive airway management
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Ability to work at least 1 holiday (2 during winter holidays)
• Capable of working without CNA support if needed
• All time-off requests must be submitted with application
• Travel nurses must live at least 100 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced PCU setting
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using Epic EMR
• Interpret and manage cardiac rhythms; respond to rapid response situations
• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines
• Provide oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, etc.)
• Float to other PCU or Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Adhere to infection control and isolation protocols
• Participate in self-scheduling; work required weekend and holiday shifts
