Job Description

We are seeking a skilled sewing machine operator to join our team in a unique soy sauce manufacturing environment. The role involves sewing cloths that are reused over soy cylinders and vats, as well as between batches of soybeans. These cloths are repaired and reused, not discarded, even after multiple uses.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sewing machine on the production floor within a food manufacturing facility.
• Sew and repair cloths used in the soy sauce production process.
• Meet daily production standards for the number of cloths sewn and cleaned.
• Work within an industrial environment that includes automated machinery, forklifts, and large vessels.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization while handling cloths continuously reused in production.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of sewing machine experience, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in industrial sewing, including the use of tape measures and double-needled machines.
• Strong hand dexterity and ability to perform general production tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in upholstery and inspection is beneficial.
• Ability to pack and handle materials efficiently.
• Ideal candidates will have prior experience in a manufacturing or production setting.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with working hours from 5 am to 2 pm. The facility is an industrial food environment with a strong soy sauce aroma, and the setting can be humid with mold on walls. Candidates should be comfortable with these conditions and open to potential overtime during peak production periods.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
