Battery Technician II & III
Join a leading provider of critical power solutions as a Battery Technician III in Ashburn, VA. This role is essential to ensuring the reliability and performance of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) battery systems for a diverse range of clients. As a senior technician, you will lead battery system startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled repairs, playing a key role in maintaining uptime for mission-critical environments. Responsibilities
- Perform battery replacements, new installations, and flooded cell installations for UPS systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and both routine and emergency repairs on various battery systems independently.
- Lead battery cabinet change-outs and load testing with minimal supervision.
- Supervise and guide crews of varying skill levels on job sites, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Communicate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to coordinate project activities.
- Document all services performed and provide recommendations for corrective actions and improvements to relevant teams and clients.
- Champion safety practices in the field and provide feedback to enhance company safety policies and procedures.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures as required.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as needed.
- Travel to client sites as required (approximately 30% or more).
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in battery service or a related field.
- Proficient in the use of digital multimeters, amp clamps, flexible CTs, and battery testing equipment such as Alber Cellcorder.
- Knowledge of basic AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry, or willingness to learn.
- Competency in connecting series, parallel, and series-parallel battery strings.
- Understanding of torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of battery cabinet installations.
- Familiarity with isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to obtain security clearance is preferred.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
