Cafe Manager
Summary of Position
The Café Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the café, ensuring excellence in guest experience, team performance, and overall efficiency. This includes leadership in planning, organizing, training, and execution to meet goals in sales, labor, product quality, cleanliness, and service standards. A strong focus on hospitality is essential, with an emphasis on consistency, attentiveness, and creating a welcoming environment for every guest.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a full understanding of all company policies, procedures, standards, and training programs to ensure consistent execution across the team.
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience by ensuring all guests feel welcome and receive responsive, friendly, and attentive service at all times.
- Ensure all food and beverage items are prepared and served in accordance with café recipes, portioning, quality, and food safety standards.
- Achieve company goals in sales, service, quality, cleanliness, and overall café presentation by training and motivating staff in a positive, productive environment.
- Oversee accurate cash handling, reconciliation, and adherence to all financial control procedures.
- Make thoughtful hiring and termination decisions to support the strength and growth of the team.
- Understand the duties of each cafe role and participate as needed to support smooth operations and uphold service standards.
- Foster ongoing professional development and leadership growth across the team through regular feedback, coaching, and training.
- Complete all administrative tasks – including, but not limited to scheduling, inventory, ordering, and reporting—in a timely and organized manner.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in excellent working condition through regular inspection and adherence to preventative maintenance protocols.
- Verify that all incoming products are received accurately, in proper condition, and in compliance with receiving procedures.
- Manage performance reviews, ensuring consistency with café policies and expectations.
- Schedule labor strategically based on projected business needs and meeting labor cost targets.
- Administer corrective actions in accordance with company policies and employee handbook guidelines.
- Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and labor regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Support brand growth by developing and executing local marketing, promotional, and community engagement initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Markets and Cafes to align sales targets, retail and café promotions, service standards, and overall performance objectives.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in food and beverage operations or front-of-house management roles.
- Prior barista experience and/or a strong working knowledge of specialty coffee is highly preferred.
- Customer-focused with a proactive, hospitality-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of café systems, guest service, and daily operational flow.
- Proficient in basic math and comfortable operating a POS system and handling cash.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that involve reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting heavy items as needed.
