RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work night shifts on 6 North, a 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:3 for days, nights, and weekends
• Care for patients transferring from Neuro ICU with conditions including neuro trauma, subarachnoid/intraventricular/intracerebral hemorrhage, ENT cancer patients post-tumor resection and flap reconstruction, post-operative spine patients
• Must have 2 years of nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must adhere to float policy within scope of practice
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off available
• BSN preferred
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• References required for submission
• Can submit with Virginia license pending but must have license in hand by Wednesday before start date
• Skills include arterial line management, lumbar drains, post-TPA care, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, telemetry monitoring, and management of various neurological conditions

Facility:

This academic medical center operates a specialized 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit that bridges critical care and general medical care using intermediate-level critical care and neuroscience principles. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and interpretation services. The unit maintains a daily census of approximately 10 patients and serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions.
