VAN DRIVER – PART TIME
Position Summary
Reporting to the Resident Services Coordinator, this position is responsible for transportation of program participants.
Position Description
- Safely and promptly transports program participants to and from their destination.
- Communicates with the Resident Services Coordinator regarding the transportation work schedule and efficiency.
- Utilizes the agency cellular telephone for emergencies or when special circumstances arise.
- Ensures that the vehicle is kept fueled and is maintained in a clean and orderly condition and informs supervisor immediately of any mechanical problems.
- Observes all Authority general safety rules and regulations and traffic laws,
- Job duties, responsibilities, specifications, and other job aspects may be changed as needed; performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensures that Authority vehicles are cleaned and disinfected prior to and after use.
Position Requirements
- Ensures all safety and housekeeping standard are compliant with federal, state, local and agency guidelines.
- Adhere to local and state driving rules of the road.
- Must be familiar with the various Authority’s Housing Development locations and local streets highways, roads and streets.
- Must possess good organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task various work assignments.
- Must be a self-starter, taking the initiative to work independently with minimal supervision and in the absence of specific instructions.
- Must be punctual, communicative and detail oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to meet time sensitive schedules and deadlines,
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make appropriate “on-the-spot” decisions in accordance with established policy and procedures.
- Must possess excellent human relations skills and promote a positive image of the Authority by establishing and maintaining to the greatest extent possible a viable and positive working relationship with tenants and co-workers.
- Act with tact and courtesy with all levels of management and general public and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the same.
- Must be flexible in work schedule and other unscheduled working hours and must be accessible, preferably by telephone or other effective means.
- Must possess and maintain an excellent driving record and be insurable by the Authority’s automobile insurance carrier and possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license throughout duration of employment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to complete all physical duties of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a motor vehicle, specifically a 15-passenger van.
- Ability to perform job assignments in inclement weather
- Move, transport, position, install, remove – Frequently moves items weighing up to 50 pounds across areas for various needs.
Experience and Training
- Any combination of education equal to graduation from high school.
- Five (5) years of proven driving experience required.
