About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer or Engineer to join our team in Norfolk, VA. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors, Principal, or Market Sector Leader and offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, technically challenging projects in an innovative and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply all conventional aspects of engineering to your assigned functional area.
• Independently evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Conceptualize initial design approaches for major phases of large facility projects or take overall responsibility for mechanical engineering deliverables.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering work to ensure timely and quality completion.
• Supervise project design and progress, coordinating with city, state, and county officials, and other outside agencies.
• Resolve complex design and coordination challenges (e.g., conflicting requirements, technical constraints).
• Serve as the primary liaison between clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
• Review plans, prepare and/or review technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.
• Participate in bidding processes and construction administration; observe project execution on-site.
• Mentor and supervise less-experienced engineers and technical support staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4–10 years of systems design experience.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
