IT Technician I - Reston, VA

Overview:Provide general technical support as well as miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:Leadership and Direction
- Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes. Receive direction on all aspects of assignments, specific tasks and how to execute. Work is thoroughly reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles.
At the Operational and Company Level
- Work closely with more senior staff members to learn and assist in the Information Technology department.
Do the Work
- Provide technical support including orders, builds, upgrades, deploys, tracks, and disposal of the company's end user device computer equipment and accessories.
- Install software.
- Schedule hardware repairs with vendors.
- Maintain computer equipment inventory.
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
- Self-reliance and ability to follow direction.
- Ability to ask for additional clarification and assistance when needed.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments and employees at all levels.
- Highly motivated and problem-solving attitude.
- Strong sense of urgency in responding to constituents.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, in person as well as on the telephone.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Effective working relationship with internal leaders and peers, as well as external clients.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Entry level position, no prior experience required. Any experience in a related field a plus.
- Successful completion of the A+ CompTIA A+ series (or equivalent) certification.
- Proven success troubleshooting general computer hardware.
- Experience with Microsoft operating systems.
- Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Mobility around an office environment.
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 100 pounds.
- Occasional pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds.
- Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
