POSITION: Worship Leader

SUMMARY

Pinecrest Baptist Church exists to honor and glorify God by obeying Jesus' command to make disciples of all people groups. We accomplish this through our Mission and Vision.

The Mission of Pinecrest Baptist Church is to be disciples who make disciples , who worship and honor God by serving our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and following his command to "go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:18-20).

The Vision of Pinecrest Baptist Church is to:

CONNECT TO CHRIST. Having a personal relationship with Christ, seeking to grow in His image daily. (John 14:6)

CONNECT TO CHURCH. Fellowshiping with other believers to be equipped, encouraged, and cared for. (Heb 10:25, Eph 2:10)

CONNECT TO COMMUNITY. Engaging the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Ac 1:8)

We are currently seeking our next Worship Leader to join our team and participate in Connecting to Christ, Church, and Community.

The Worship Leader is responsible to the Pastor for the development and promotion of the music ministry of the church. He or she shall work under the supervision of the Pastor(s) and look to him for direction in the performance of his or her duties. He or she will work closely with our Pastor in cultivating worship services that glorify God, edify God's people, and inspire greater devotion to Christ.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Nurturing one’s soul and relationship with Jesus.

This is the first and most important responsibility the candidate will ever have. We place the connection to Christ first in our vision statement. This is because the greatest need of each person on the earth is a relationship with Jesus.

2. Authentically loving, leading, and caring for the church family.

Without partiality, he or she must genuinely love and care for the people God has entrusted to our church. We are looking for someone who loves building relationships with people, and who is willing to be an example to the church in word and action.

3. Creating and cultivating a culture of worship in our congregation.

We desire to cultivate a culture of worship that is biblical, encouraging, and participatory.

4. Planning of weekly Sunday services.

The candidate will work in conjunction with the Pastor and staff in planning and executing all aspects of the worship services.

5. Choosing songs that engage the congregation and support the preaching of God’s Word.

The ideal candidate will be one who can lead worship using piano/keyboard or guitar as the primary lead instrument.

6. Modeling heartfelt worship, as well as encouraging the congregation to worship.

The worship experience sets the tone for everything we do in our Sunday service, so the candidate must be able to lead in a manner that connects people to Christ, encourages participation, and gives verbal exhortations to the congregation to worship the Lord.

7. Recruiting, auditioning, and training singers and musicians.

The Worship Leader should be training and equipping those who serve with him/her. He/She should be able to connect with the congregation to build and grow the worship team.

8. Leading regular rehearsals for musicians and singers.

These rehearsals will assist in not only being prepared as a worship team but also in spiritual formation as a group and individually.

STYLISTIC CONSIDERATIONS

When it comes to the leading of worship through song, the candidate will select and lead the congregation in music that is:

1. Theologically sound

The Worship Leader will select songs that reflect a healthy understanding of the Bible and Christian theology. He will work in conjunction with the Pastor to ensure that the “songs we preach” glorify God and are gospel-centered.

2. Congregational participation

Engaging “stage presence”—in other words, not simply “doing a set,” and moving from song to song. Incorporating Scripture, a brief word of encouragement, or testimony as appropriate.

Stylistically, the ideal candidate will possess a deep knowledge of current trends in congregational worship music and incorporate songs into Sunday gatherings. These songs should be easy to learn and can be integrated seamlessly into our worship services. The ideal candidate will possess an appreciation of Christian hymnody.

Required

1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship

with Him.

2. A passion to lead God’s people in worship.

3. Commitment to moral purity.

4. Commitment to the vision of Pinecrest Baptist Church.

5. Possess good people, leadership, and organizational skills.

6. Be an example by supporting the total ministry of Pinecrest Baptist Church through attendance and verbal encouragement.

7. Pass a background check

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

The Worship Leader is a part-time, hourly position. The work schedule will consist of 12 - 20 hours per week, with specific hours of work to be arranged and approved by the Pastor.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
