Sr. Application SQL Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: Remote
Clearance Requirement: Must have an IRS High-Risk Background Investigation, IRS access processing, and required drug screening before CI network access. Position Summary
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a Senior Application SQL DBA to support mission-critical SQL Server environments. This role is responsible for database administration, performance optimization, backup and recovery, security, data integrity, and production support in a regulated environment.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
- Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise
- Strong Transact-SQL (T-SQL) skills
- Experience with database design, SQL jobs, backups, and recovery validation
- Experience supporting production and UAT database updates, script execution, and data corrections
- Proven ability to maintain data integrity in controlled production environments
- Prior IRS experience or IRS clearance
- Experience supporting .NET/IIS web applications
- Database sanitization for development and test environments
- Crystal Reports and Business Objects reporting support
- Data migration, mapping, and quality validation experience
- Security patch coordination and audit/compliance support
- Performance tuning, release deployments, and recovery testing
- Experience supporting regulated or mission-critical SQL Server environments
- T-SQL, SQL Jobs, Backup & Recovery
- Windows Server / IIS

- Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise administration
- Transact-SQL (T-SQL), database design, SQL jobs, backup/recovery
- Production and UAT database support
- Crystal Reports, Business Objects / Business Objects Server
- Development/test database sanitization and data management
- Windows environments and IIS administration
- Application server operations and support
- Monitoring and alerting tools, including SCOM
- Patch management, access/account administration, and server maintenance
- ALM Quality Center / Micro Focus Quality Center
- Rational Quality Manager, IBM DOORS
- Quick Test Professional (QTP), LoadRunner
- Requirements traceability, test planning, defect tracking, and quality assurance processes
- Rational Team Concert, StarTeam, SharePoint
- Source code management and release documentation
- Change management, impact assessments, and configuration management practices
- Section 508 compliance testing and accessibility validation
- Tools such as AccRepair, JAWS, Nuance Dragon, and ZoomText
- FISMA, NIST, and IRS IRM standards
- Security Control Assessments (SCA), Continuous Monitoring, POA&M, SSP, ISCP, and SRA activities
- Security remediation and scanning tools including Guardium, Tripwire, AppScan, and related compliance technologies
- Experience supporting .NET web applications and SQL Server databases in federal or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with IRS development, testing, configuration management, and security processes
- Experience with Business Objects, Crystal Reports, and enterprise reporting solutions
- Knowledge of accessibility compliance (Section 508) and federal cybersecurity frameworks
- Experience supporting audit readiness, security assessments, and compliance documentation
