Senior Risk Manager- Risk Intelligence & Reporting

Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Risk Manager to join the Risk Intelligence and Reporting team within the Enterprise Risk Management organization. This role requires strong communication skills, analytical expertise, and business knowledge to support our highest profile programs and processes across Risk Management. The team’s scope includes executive reporting for Senior Management and the Board, effective challenge methodology, and non-regulatory requirements

The Senior Risk Manager role will play a key role in analyzing Capital One’s risk performance and delivering structured reporting to Senior Executives and the Board to inform the Company’s risk management strategy. Furthermore, the role involves developing and governing the effective challenge methodology, and non-regulatory requirements, while serving as trusted advisor to integrated risk management groups (e.g. operational, compliance, technology, or financial risk).

Ideal Senior Risk Managers possess a natural passion for managing risk with excellent project, process and analytical skills. With these skills, they serve as change agents to effectively challenge business leaders on our highest profile risk projects. Senior Risk Managers partner with executives and other risk leaders to identify potential risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

Specific responsibilities of the Senior Risk Manager include and are not limited to:

• Develop and deliver key risk management topics across senior risk executives through monthly and quarterly reporting

• Analyze on reporting outcomes to observe trends and provide insights on changes to the Company’s risk environments

• Lead and support efforts to develop and govern effective challenge methodology and non-regulatory requirements

• Support audits, exams, and assessments across Enterprise Risk Management

• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve objectives

• Demonstrate problem-solving and analysis skills with attention to detail

• Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and influencing skills across various levels of the organization

• Balance multiple priorities to help drive business value and support team objectives, while managing tasks and activities related to risk management initiatives in a well-managed capacity

• Stay current on the changing industry landscape and regulatory environment, and understand the impacts to Capital One

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

• At least 5 years of risk management or risk reporting experience

• At least 5 years of communications or program management experience

• At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in reporting and analyzing data

• 3+ years of drafting and presenting deliverables to high level leadership

• 5+ years of financial services risk management experience

• 5+ years of experience influencing partners, from risk managers to senior leaders

• 6+ years of communications or program management experience

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Risk Manager

Richmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
