Job Description

Addison Group is partnering with a well-established financial services organization in Reston, VA to identify a Debt Resolutions Specialist. This is a strong opportunity for someone with consumer loan collections experience who enjoys member interaction, problem solving, and working in a professional office environment.

This role is responsible for helping preserve company assets by managing delinquent loan accounts, collecting past-due payments, and supporting recovery efforts while maintaining strong service standards. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating with customers by phone and email, documenting account activity thoroughly, and handling sensitive financial situations with professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Contact delinquent accounts by phone and mail to collect past-due loan payments and bring accounts current
• Monitor and work overdraft-related reports daily and help resolve related account issues
• Maintain accurate files, notes, and reports related to collections activity
• Respond to consumer disputes from credit bureaus and ensure accurate reporting of account activity
• Counsel customers using knowledge of lending guidelines, applicable policies, and fair debt collection regulations
• Review borrowers’ financial situations to determine possible hardship modifications
• Assist with collection efforts related to returned checks, delinquent property taxes, and negative share accounts
• Process charge-offs and support account maintenance activities
• Log bankruptcy activity and support related documentation procedures
• Prepare reports for leadership and identify trends contributing to delinquent or charged-off loans
• Support internal and external inquiries with professionalism and timely follow-up

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience collecting on consumer loans required
• Experience with personal loans, credit cards, and/or auto loans strongly preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Comfortable handling customer communication over phone and email
• Strong computer, keyboarding, and ten-key skills required
• Ability to maintain detailed and accurate documentation
• Professional, customer-service-oriented approach to collections work
• Understanding of fair debt collection practices and related compliance standards is a plus
