About the Position

License: Active state or compact RN license required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS. Must-Have: EPIC charting experience required. Neuro PCU experience preferred. Telemetry experience required. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Stroke/Neuro PCU. Shifts will typically be 3x12 hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Weekend coverage may include every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block. Requests for time off must be included upon submission. The facility may call off one shift every two weeks. Candidates must work one holiday per 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted, but travel experience is preferred. Local candidates are also accepted, based on specific criteria. The unit has a typical patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5, with a staffing goal of 1:4. This unit specializes in the care of patients with neurologic conditions, including strokes. Patient management will involve IV drips and telemetry monitoring. Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and medication administration. Expected clinical skills include phlebotomy, central line care, and dysrhythmia interpretation. Floating may be required to other units as needed. Additional interdisciplinary support is available within the unit. The unit receives general medicine overflow in addition to its primary focus on neuro patients.
